Facebook vs Blog for Weight Loss Success Community

I'm curious. Do you like Facebook?

Do you use it for more than sharing photos and thoughts with friends and family?

Do you connect with other people, people you maybe have not met before?

If you are reading weight loss success blogs, like this one, would you be interested in information on Facebook also. Would you prefer to see information on Facebook (if so, why) or do you like finding blogs that are independent of the big FB...does it make a difference at all to you?

You see, I have a Facebook page...I actually "claimed" the Refuse To Diet name quite some time ago, but just recently built a page on it. I'd love to know what you think...

Things I like about Facebook:
  1. it is super easy to share inspiring thoughts and messages from lots of great leaders. Since mindset is so important for weight loss success, I like to follow people who are positive thinkers, who uplift and empower us.
  2. it is easy to put up quick snippets
Things I'm not thrilled with about Facebook:
  1. it is easy to get lost and spend a lot of time there wandering the maze of interesting (and mundane) thoughts
  2. it changes all the time...maybe I'm showing my age, but do we really HAVE to change everything so often--it gives me a headache, makes me frustrated...and I feel dumb. None of those things are good for my weight loss success
Which camp are you in: Facebook Fanatic or Foe?

I don’t have a facebook account, having a facebook would take up too much of my time. I am busy enough with school and work.

Thanks for you input Chris. Facebook can take up a lot of time if you let it! Just like allocating time for making healthy food choices and moving our bodies, sometimes we have to make choices about how we spend our time at the computer.

Facebook....hmmmm....another reason to sit on my backside and play with the computer...!
Decided not get involved with it as it can get addictive.
Call me old fashioned, but I like a well written blog that give me pause for thought instead of sound bites.

I know what you mean Lesley! It certainly can be addictive. I have to be very disciplined about my time there since I also use it for business.

I really appreciate your comment about preferring thought-provoking writing versus sound bites.

We have SO many sound bite opportunities, and what I have found is they tell only a tiny bit(e) of the story.

Maybe the "sound bites" are better for hooking people in to read the full deal. If the sound bite doesn't interest them, they don't have to go further. As long as we write the sound bites so they accurately reflect the content of the full article--HATE it when I think I'm going to look at one thing and it turns out to be something I am so not interested in!

Have a great weekend!

Now, let's get up off our backsides!

At least a sound bite isn't fattening :)
