Buying Bras

OK, this is for the women out there--I am not a clothes shopper. I don't particularly enjoy the experience. Maybe that is because I have been fat most of my life and so it isn't really a fun experience to sweat and try on clothes that always seem to be too tight.

Well, I had to buy clothes recently as I was going to a conference. While I was in the store they made an announcement that they were having fittings for bras. Well, I was wearing the same bra that I had been wearing 100 pounds ago. Thinking just maybe it was time for me to have a new bra I headed over.

I intellectually knew that having new "foundation garments" would make a big difference, but I really wasn't prepared for the visual change. Heck I wasn't sagging any more! In fact "the girls" were upright and "perky" as I've heard Oprah say!

So do yourself a favor and buy a couple new bras--whether you have lost a lot of weight or just haven't bought a new bra in a while, get a bra that fits and it will uplift your spirits, as well as "the girls"!

Not sure how to pick one out--hate to go to the stores. Check out this link and get the right bra for you, shipped right to your door! Find your perfect bra with JustMySize.com's BraFinder!

I Had to Buy New Clothes!

Hooray!

I am going to a conference next week and all my clothes are literally falling off, so I had to buy some new clothes. I was risking being arrested for indecent exposure by appearing in public in the pants I bought this summer...they were threatening to settle around my ankles...fortunately I made it through the store without an incident!

Since I'm not at my ultimate goal I didn't want to buy a lot of clothes, but two pairs of pants and a couple tops, and new bras. All much needed.

It is AMAZING the difference in how I look in the mirror. Same size body but new clothes and foundation garments...WOW!

I'm especially happy because I very comfortably fit into size 16 jeans! It has been more than 15 years since I could say that!

Down 45 Pounds and Counting

It has been several months since my last post. While I've been remiss at blogging, I've made great progress in my health!

Since October I have now lost over 45 pounds (I will be weighing in tomorrow, so will have another update then!) That brings my total weight shed since my peak to 85 pounds! Hard to believe that I am the same person!

My clothes have long been hanging on me. Any of you out there with similar yo-yo histories understand that I had a closet filled with many different sizes of clothes. That actually has worked out in my favor as I haven't had to buy much in the way of interim clothes during the process! 2 pair of jeans (which are now pretty loose and will have to be replaced soon!)

Now obviously I'm no fashionista, or I would have bought more new clothes by now. I'm actually quite happy with clothes that feel loose. After years of clothes feeling really tight, it is a very pleasant change!

My goal is to drop another 30 pounds, plus or minus a few. At that point I will see where my new system takes me. My doctor will be thrilled when she sees me next and the 30 pound goal is based on a conversation we had when discussing my health a couple of years ago.

I've now turned 50 (woo-hoo!) and am really enjoying this new phase of my life. I can actually cross my legs--which if you've never been overweight you won't get the thrill--and I am sleeping better than ever. I owe both of these things to dropping excess fat. And I've been doing it in a way that is so far from "a diet" it is amazing!

This is my official welcome back to blogging! Looking forward to sharing more of my successes and challenges as the days go on!
